FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Who uses estate
sale services?
Executors of an estate or those dealing with the death of a loved one, people moving to a smaller home or an assisted living center, or anyone needing to sell their home's contents.
How do I know
if there is enough to use your services?
Sometimes a phone call is all it takes. Generally we need to visit the location of your
sale and discuss the best way to sell your items.
Of course, there is no cost for this consultation.
Why have an Estate sale rather than use an auction service?
With an Estate sale you don't need to do any packing, just leave everything where it is. We sort through everything, separating valuables from those of lesser value. We also set aside all personal items such as letters and pictures for family members to distribute as they choose. Buyers tend to pay more for an item when they see it in its original setting. Be aware that many auction houses charge cartage fees to pick up your items.
Do I need to
have a house full of antiques to have an estate
sale?
Not at all! While many people have collectibles and
some vintage items, it is not necessary to have
a large home filled with antiques. We have sold most everything that would be considered general household items.
What kinds
of things do you sell?
We can sell virtually anything that is legal
and safe to be sold. We have sold antique, contemporary
and used furniture, clothing, jewelry, tools,
appliances, garden equipment, plants, and automobiles - just about
everything.
What happens
to the stuff that doesn't sell?
With every sale, there will generally be a little
bit left over.
These items can be donated to charity, retained
by the owner or discarded at your discretion.
How is Trunk
Full of Treasures paid?
We are paid a percentage of the sale. This is
negotiated with you and depends on the size
of your estate and the amount of preparation
involved.
We carefully go over the contract with you to
insure there is no confusion concerning our
services and payment.
Can you guarantee good results, since my estate is "very valuable"?
Our experience has proven that many times the 'value' of an estate is unrealistic.
Our goal is to achieve the highest possible selling price for every item we sell. If your aim is only to make money, rather than liquidating the contents of the house, you may be slightly disappointed. We continue to grow our business through referrals because our clients are pleased by the sales we achieve and the small amount that remains at the end of the sale.
